Special Issues

Bulletin of Volcanology Special Issues are overseen by a specific deputy editor (Nico Fournier) and are handled through a system of special guest editors. All papers are handled and reviewed following Bulletin of Volcanology standards and procedure, and are then placed in the next issue and accrue in parallel in a dedicated Topical Collection tab on the Bulletin of Volcanology site (https://link.springer.com/journal/volumesAndIssues/445?tabName=topicalCollections). That way, quicker papers are not delayed by late-starters. There are two Special Issue types: those relating to volcanic crises or eruptions which combine science and issues arising from the event; and those collating work in a special theme area, such as results from special interest working group meetings, workshops and large-scale experiments.
